Hootenanny Trio

Hootenanny Trio produced two albums, "Esplanaadi" (1966) and "Korvessa kuusen juurella" (1967). In addition to that, the compilation "Folk Sound of Finland" (1966) included four non-LP songs ("We Shall Overcome" is from this LP). They also performed on the song "Siis eipä huolta" on the b-side of Johnny's single "Salainen hymy", and "Sopu vie eteenpäin" appeared on a traffic education EP.

This CD presents 20 of Hootenanny Trio's recordings, naturally many of them Finnish traditionals. Reponen later became one of the leading Finnish lyricists, mass-producing lyrics for an ever-copious number of singers who needed song material. Here you can find four of his early lyrics, including one of the all-time standards, "Säkkijärven polkka".
